DONNA

I first met Donatella Dobrolyubova (better known by her stage name Donna Trumplova) when she was already causing a sensation in New York's underground party and arts scene. Hailing from Siberia, she commanded the attention of any room she entered and claimed to be the biological daughter of President Donald Trump. Needless to say, she was one of the most fascinating and eccentric personalities I had ever encountered as a creative.

When I agreed to help produce her live New York variety show and develop a TV pilot around her provocative interview style with Nick McKinney (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and Charles Wessler (There's Something About Mary, Dumb And DumberShallow Hal), I knew I was in for a wild ride. What I didn't know was that Donna would soon end up with a cease and desist from Kentucky Fried Chicken and get her face splashed across the tabloids.
Donna was then, and is now, a fashionista — in the truest sense of the word. Fascinatingly, her perspective as a Russian female immigrant allowed her to mix and match contemporary and retro fashion styles without fear of mixing genres. The result was a unique style, wholly her own. Although Donna accomplished plenty by herself, I decided to help her further elevate things by bringing in two of the best wardrobe professionals I know.

For the New York live variety show and party events, Dawn Dunning at Bazaar Noir helped Donna cultivate a flashy but elegant hostess look, reminiscent of New York's golden disco and new wave artist eras. On the west coast, Michelle Martini dug into her archives to help Donna create a bold Siberian-meets-Hollywood glamour theme, which infamous art dealer and Vogue Italia contributor, Stefan Simchowitz was kind enough to document.
